Note: It is important that the looped tubing is covered by the dome to prevent accidental snagging of the loop as well as the catheter hub. Be sure to tape the loop of tubing so that it will fit the inner curve of the dome. This also prevents bending and occlusion. Covering both the hub and looped tubing virtually eliminates catheter manipulation, which can lead to thrombosis that may cause phlebitis, extravasation, and possible infection.
